Phenotype
Strong allele; seedlings with very short hypocotyls, oval-shape cotyledons with no petiols; absence of rosette growth; a very short inflorescence develops directly from the embryo or callus, internode elongation shows that seedling meristem produce an inflorescence rather than a flower, however all floral primordia develop into carpelloid structures; no leaves, petals or stamens are formed; the carpel-like structures are all capped with stigma-like tissues, which are characterized by the presence of papillae cells, lacking style differentiation; the lower part of the carpelloid structure differentiates into ovaries and ovules, few ovules are formed but each is made of nucellus, integuments and funiculus; homozygous plants arte sterile. Requires several days longer than the wild type and other emf mutants to germinate.
